Unique ID is an additional tool NovelSat now employs to improve satellite bandwidth efficiency through signal interference reduction
Raanana, ISRAEL, April 30, 2014 – NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technologies, today announced that its NovelSat NS1000 Modulator and NS3000 Modem support the Carrier ID (CID) specification as defined by the Satellite Interference Reduction Group (sIRG).
The Carrier ID release is part of the NovelSat strategy to make its products market leaders in jamming and interference resilience in addition to being the leaders in spectral efficiency. Both the NovelSat NS2000 demodulator and NS3000 modem already offer major signal resilience advantages on the receiving side.

CID refers to a signal that is injected into video or data transmissions by a satellite modulator or modem to help identify the source of carrier interference. Each satellite communication device transmits a unique ID along with information about the device and the session. The CID is transmitted below the noise floor of the carrier and is detected by special measurement receivers so that an interfering carrier can be easily identified to enable quick resolution of an interference situation.
“CID support is consistent with our continuing effort to provide cutting-edge satellite communication technology,” said Dan Peleg, NovelSat VP R&D. “This adds to the clear advantage in interference resilience that NovelSat products already provide on the receiving side.”
When conflicting signals interfere with a satellite transmission, the bandwidth that is allocated for clean transmission is used less efficiently. NovelSat transmission devices, powered by NovelSat NS3 satellite transmission technology, have built-in mechanisms for mitigating signal interference, intentional jamming, weather fluctuations and phase noise.
Now, with CID support, NovelSat gear offers yet another way to resolve signal interference, resulting in even lower cost per MHz.
