Ra’anana, Israel – March 17, 2021 – NOVELSAT, a global leader in content connectivity over satellite, has been awarded a contract by System Integrator Precision Electronics Ltd (PEL) on behalf of  BSNL, the Indian state-owned telecommunications company, to provide high capacity satellite-based connectivity for broadband and backhaul services under a Universal Service Obligation (USO) project funded by the Department of Telecommunications.

BSNL is looking to increase its network capacity to address growing demand for broadband amidst sharp rise in data consumption across users and locations. PEL along with its technology partner NOVELSAT addressed the BSNL requirement, and in turn their customer BSNL selected NOVELSAT’s Xnet Data hub system for the exceptional efficiency and flexibility it offers for growing BSNL network.

High Capacity Data Link Exceeded 10 bit/Hertz

Ra’anana and Ramat Gan, Israel – September 14, 2020 – NOVELSAT, a global leader in content connectivity over satellite, and Spacecom (TASE: SCC), operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, announced today the successful demonstration of high capacity satellite transmission with spectral efficiency of 10.5 bit/Hz over AMOS-17 high performance HTS utilizing NOVELSAT DUET™ CEC™ (carrier-echo-cancellation) band reuse technology.

Operating over AMOS-17 Ka HTS and Ku beams, NOVELSAT modems established a symmetrical link, reaching 64APSK modulation with 9/10 FEC rate and 2% roll-off, achieving data rate of 854Mbps over of 81.6MHz bandwidth and 753Mbps over 72MHz bandwidth, demonstrating spectral efficiency of 10.5 bit/Hz.

This extraordinary performance was achieved without any power backoff or additional satellite padding, and without requiring predistortion calibration. Connected to a 2.4m diameter antenna, the remote modem performed carrier-echo-cancellation, enabling simultaneous use of the same bandwidth for both uplink and downlink with implementation loss lower than 0.01dB.

The PCIe-based NS10C and NS20C satellite modulator and demodulator cards from NovelSat are designed for easy integration into any PC-based satellite broadcast platform. NovelSat announces that Eurovision Media Services – the business arm of the European Broadcasting Union – recently updated their satellite distribution network with new technologies, including the NovelSat NS4 waveform and new NovelSat ProtCASTER, the first satellite broadcasting solution with AES 256-bit encryption.

Ra’anana, Israel, April 4, 2018 – NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, announced today that its NovelSat ProtCASTER DRM solution was implemented as a part of a major satellite network upgrade by Eurovision Media Services (EMS). As a part of the upgrade, EMS also replaced their current satellite waveform, NovelSat NS3, with the more robust NovelSat NS4, further boosting spectral efficiency by up to 15%.

Co-developed with EMS, NovelSat ProtCASTER DRM is the only satellite broadcast content protection solution based on virtually unbreakable AES 256-bit encryption. In addition, ProtCASTER offers a set of easy-to-use graphical tools to dynamically handle satellite broadcast content Digital Rights Management (DRM), entitlement, scheduling and booking. ProtCASTER is embedded in the Eurovision Hypermux Satellite Content Distribution Platform and has already been proven in the distribution of major sporting events.

In addition to ProtCASTER, EMS also included the NovelSat NS4 software package in their upgrades. NovelSat NS4 has enabled EMS to achieve about 15% additional efficiency compared with the NovelSat NS3 waveform that was previously used. NovelSat NS4 is available in all NovelSat satellite modems, modulators and demodulators, which also support and are backward compatible with industry standards, including DVB-S, DVB-S2 and DVB-S2X.

NovelSat NS4, with a ROF as low as 2% and a wide variety of modulation codes, can boost capacity by up to 45% without increasing bandwidth demand compared with DVB-S2. The NovelSat NS4 waveform, like all NovelSat features, is a software-upgradable option that can be installed remotely. It also includes a set of advanced mitigation algorithms and detection mechanisms to handle most types of Radio Frequency Interference (RFI).

NovelSat Introduces LIBRA Dynamic Capacity Allocation Solution for Point-to-Multipoint Satellite Networks

New solution dynamically allocates real-time satellite capacity without remote terminal disconnection.

Ra’anana, Israel, March 8, 2018 – NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, today announced the availability of NovelSat LIBRA, a new satellite network management engine that seamlessly provides real-time space segment capacity allocation without remote terminal disconnection or data loss. NovelSat LIBRA is based on SCPC architecture and a suite of NovelSat hardware and software that is optimized for Point-to-Multipoint satellite networks. This solution is designed to help satellite network operators ensure the best user experience in applications including IP trunking, cellular backhaul, oil & gas, military, maritime and homeland security.

SCPC-based satellite network architecture delivers guaranteed bandwidth, with low latency and low jitter, from a hub to multiple remote sites. These are necessary benefits for meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in real-time applications such as VoIP, video conferencing, broadcast and Internet services. SCPC, however, leaves bandwidth unused when remote links are not fully loaded or are offline. On the other hand, TDMA-based networks offer more efficient satellite bandwidth utilization, but without the quality of SCPC.

NovelSat LIBRA provides network operators with a flexible solution for offering high quality Point-To-MultiPoint communication links which can be adjusted instantaneously based on dynamic usage demands. With this solution, a service manager can announce a different service capacity scenario for each site or group of sites; A site can have a Committed Info Rate (CIR) at all times, or a CIR with the option to increase capacity once available. In a third scenario, a remote site’s capacity can be defined to fall to a Minimum Information Rate if the site is lightly loaded or, alternatively, increase to a Maximum Information Rate if the site is overloaded. NovelSat LIBRA can accomplish this all automatically with zero data loss and without disconnection.
The NovelSat LIBRA management terminal monitors and manages the remote terminals’ resource utilization according to different scenarios per application, data load, pre-determined schedule, Quality of Service (QoS) rules, or manually using the NovelNet (NovelSat Network Management System) console.

New NovelSat ProtCASTER for Data Links delivers the highest level of security available for satellite transmission.

Ra’anana, Israel, March 5, 2018 – NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, today announced availability of ProtCASTER for Data Links, a new data protection solution for satellite-based IP data networks that uses virtually unbreakable AES 256-bit encryption, embedded in NovelSat modems. In the world of global satellite data transmission, where hacking and data theft are commonplace, demand for more secure transmission is high.

Based on virtually unbreakable AES 256-bit encryption, ProtCASTER from NovelSat delivers the highest level of data security available for satellite transmission. When working in conjunction with NovelSat NS4, the optional high-efficiency waveform, available only in NovelSat modems, the satellite link protection is intensified even more than when operating using other satellite transmission standards. This level of data encryption is essential for markets were hacking immunity is crucial such as banking, the oil and gas industry, homeland security and others.

In contrast with systems where encryption is added using an external device, the new data encryption solution is now embedded in all NovelSat NS3000 and NS3000 satellite modems. It uses a secured OTA channel for exchanging AES keys with remote devices and is integrated with NovelNet, a full-featured NMS (Network Management System) that offers end-to-end network orchestration.
