Ra’anana, Israel, April 3, 2019 – Broadcasters face increased demand for higher resolution video standards that require an order of magnitude more satellite capacity. Meanwhile, spectrum is being challenged by 5G roll-outs. With that in mind, NovelSat has teamed up with igolgi to introduce NovelSat FUSION, an all-in-one solution offering new levels of satellite transmission efficiency so that broadcasters can drive down operational costs.
NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology and igolgi, a leading provider of video processing, delivery and analytics software and solutions, have developed the FUSION solution, which integrates high-efficiency multi-stream video encoding and satellite modulation in a single transmit unit and satellite demodulation and multi-channel video transcoding in a single receive unit. The all-in-one NovelSat FUSION solution offers broadcasters significant savings in satellite bandwidth or enables transmission of up to three times more video content without increasing link budgets.
The FUSION encoder/modulator receives multiple simultaneous video streams in any video format or delivery standard and encodes them into a high-efficiency HEVC (H.265) video stream. The compressed video is modulated and securely uplinked using virtually unbreakable (optional) 256-bit AES encryption. On the receive side, the FUSION transcoding IRD decrypts and demodulates the satellite signals and transcodes to any video format including MPEG‑2, MPEG‑4 (H.264‑AVC) and HEVC to support OTT, ABR and linear TV streams. Optional packaging to HLS or DASH is also available in the receive unit. In addition, the unit can be a decoder only or can pass through content for direct packaging.

Ra’anana, Israel, February 11, 2019 – NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, today announced availability of their new Multi-Rx Satellite IP Demodulator, the NovelSat NS‑HUB4000. The NS‑HUB4000 is a multi-receiver satellite transmission IP unit designed for mobile backhauling and enterprise satellite data transmission network operators, who want to optimize their hub CAPEX and achieve high transfer rates for inbound data traffic.
The NS-HUB4000 houses four internal Rx cards, each with 8 satellite receivers, packing up to 32 high-efficiency receivers into a single 1U rack-mounted unit. The compact NovelSat NS-HUB44000 is the ideal choice for Point-to-Multipoint satellite network data applications in which a single NS-HUB4000 hub unit can receive data at an aggregate inbound rate of up to 2Gbps. Each of the 32 NS-HUB4000 carriers can simultaneously receive at up to 120Msps per carrier, saving rack space and reducing equipment and operating expenses.

NovelSat founder and outgoing CEO Itzik Wulkan to retain position as President.
Ra’anana, Israel, December 5, 2018 – NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, today announced that Gary Drutin has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of NovelSat and as a member of the Board of Directors of the company. The Board has accepted the request by Itzik Wulkan to be released from his position as CEO, a role he has held since co-founding NovelSat 11 years ago. Mr. Wulkan will continue to serve the company as its President, focusing on strategic Business Development and as an observer of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Drutin joined NovelSat earlier this year as Chief Business Officer. He has served as CEO of FST Biometrics, Chief Customer Officer for Allot, and Bizdev Director for Broadcom’s Microwave business following the acquisition of Provigent, where he was SVP Worldwide Sales. Mr. Drutin also held GM, VP and other positions for AudioCodes, Cisco and Digital. Mr. Drutin was appointed to the top management position by the NovelSat Board of Directors with the full support of the company’s lead Investors.

New Solution from NovelSat Helps Flemish Broadcaster Improve Spectral Efficiency and Enhanced Features
Ra’anana, Israel, September 13, 2018 – NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, today announced that VRT (Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie), the Belgium national public-service broadcaster for the Flemish Region and Community, has implemented NovelSat satellite broadcasting solutions including NovelSat modems and software.
VRT broadcast services include contribution, DTH channels, and radio, all via satellite and a fiber network, across Belgium and parts of The Netherlands and Luxembourg. They approached NovelSat with a request to replace their ground station links and contribution SNG transmission equipment. VRT had been transmitting using the outdated DVB-S2 satellite transmission standard with 20-35% RoF (Roll-off Factor). In addition to the efficiency issues, one of the primary catalysts for the request was the new regulation from the Belgium government requiring CID insertion in satellite signals as of 2018.
CID (Carrier ID) refers to a unique ID that is injected into video or data transmissions by a satellite modulator or modem so that an interfering carrier can be easily identified to enable quick resolution of interference situations.
The initial solution provided by NovelSat, together with VP Media Solutions, a major Belgium reseller of broadcast solutions and services, includes NS3000 Professional Satellite Modems, with configurations supporting Carrier in Carrier (Carrier Eco Cancellation) and Dual Channel (ASI+IP) capability, all with built-in TCP Acceleration. The NovelSat modem offers 5% RoF with the DVB-S2 and S2X standard, and as low as 2% RoF with the NovelSat NS4 satellite waveform. These and other features make the NovelSat NS3000 the most bandwidth-efficient modem in the satellite industry.

Independent Field Tests At Large UK Teleport Show Updated Version of NovelSat NS4 Increases Efficiency Advantage Over DVB-S2X By Up To 32%.
Ra’anana, Israel, September 12, 2018 – Recent independent testing, confirmed by NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technology, indicate that new enhancements to the NovelSat NS4 satellite transmission waveform have further increased its efficiency edge over the DVB-S2X standard. Head-to-head comparison tests performed by a large teleport in the UK show that NovelSat NS4 performs up to 32% more efficiently compared with DVB-S2X. That translates into more data and video transfer per MHz of bandwidth for satellite communications providers, especially in saturated environments.
Live field tests were performed over a 36MHz transponder on both linear (non-saturated) and non-linear (saturated) links. While NovelSat NS4 showed a 22% boost in efficiency, compared with DB-S2X, over linear links, the results over non-linear links far outstripped previous results, at up to 32% better than DVB-S2X. The enhancements that NovelSat has made to its NovelSat NS4 waveform set the stage for the company to break the satellite transmission bandwidth efficiency record that it had set with the previous version of NovelSat NS4 (which performed up to 22% better than DVB-S2X).
The field tests also included linear bi-directional links supported by NovelSat DUET CeC (carrier-echo-cancellation) software-based Band Reuse Technology. NovelSat DUET CeC doubles the effective data rate over the same transponder segment by enabling simultaneous full duplex video, data, and voice communication using the same bandwidth for both uplink and downlink. The results of these bi-directional tests rendered an impressive 37% advantage over DVB-S2X on the same links.
The NovelSat NS4 satellite transmission waveform can be implemented on any NovelSat satellite modem, modulator or demodulator – which also support DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-S2X and DVB-CID standards. Existing NovelSat customers can benefit from the new NovelSat NS4 enhancements through easy OTA (Over-the-Air) software upgrades.
