Double data transmission rate over existing bandwidth
NovelSat DUET™ CEC™ (carrier-echo-cancellation) software-based Band Reuse Technology makes it possible to simultaneously use the same bandwidth for both uplink and downlink, doubling the effective data rate. With NovelSat DUET CeC, you can transfer data at 850Mbps in bidirectional traffic over a 84Mhz transponder using NS3000 Satellite Modems.
NovelSat DUET CeC enables Teleports, Telcos and cellular operators using satellite backhaul, DSNG operators and other organizations offering data intensive applications to establish full duplex data, video and voice communication over the same transponder segment.
All digital signal processing – Better signal quality with lower hardware costs
By removing signal interference from the transmission, NovelSat DUET CeC doubles data transmission rates over existing bandwidth. NovelSat DUET CeC also processes signals digitally in both directions, without the need to convert signals back and forth between analog and digital. This reduces complexity and enhances signal efficiency by eliminating degradation associated with the redundant conversion of digital to analog and back. Unlike other solutions, NovelSat DUET CeC achieves all this without the need for additional, performance impairing hardware, further reducing capital and operating costs.
Unlike hardware-based solutions, NovelSat DUET CeC is characterized by close to zero implementation loss (0.2 dB), zero jitter and zero latency. This makes it an ideal solution for VoIP and RT Video.
NovelSat DUET CeC can be activated in the NovelSat NS3000 Modem as an OTA (over-the-Air) remotely downloadable software module.
Satellite Transmission Security
In Full-Duplex communication facilitated by NovelSat DUET CeC, very low SNR signals from remote terminals links are treated as noise by any other modem and will not be intercepted. For applications such as FreeBand, when NovelSat NS4 is used, signals can be transmitted at SNR as low as ‑3dB. At such low SNRs, most modems cannot even lock-on to the signal.
NovelSat DUET CeC revolutionizes the way DSNGs operate. By supporting bi-directional video and data communication with the studio on the same bandwidth, NovelSat DUET CeC offers new capabilities that were previously considered impossible. For example, a DSNG could deliver live HD video and recorded files simultaneously while receiving IP-based control commands from the home studio. Users with symmetrical data links can particularly benefit from the transmission of twice the amount of data without leasing additional bandwidth and the significant cost savings.
One of the most popular applications of NovelSat DUET CeC is cellular backhaul where it is in wide use. For a an APAC-based cellular operator using NS3000 modems with NovelSat DUET CeC for 2G networks (E1s), the customer was able to pack 57 E1s over a 36MHz transponder, a huge improvement over their previous hardware-based competitive solution, which delivered 18 E1s per 36MHz transponder.
